Shoaib Hashmi, a veteran writer and academic, has died.

After a long battle with sickness, veteran dramatist, actor, and academic Shoaib Hashmi passed away Monday in Lahore.

Adeel Hashmi has revealed his father has passed away. For quite some time, Hashmi had been sick.

The Government College, Lahore (now a university) and the London School of Economics (LSE) both awarded Shoaib Hashmi a Master of Arts degree. He went to London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated with a degree in theatre.

Adeel Hashmi, the deceased man's son, has confirmed his passing.

He taught at the Government College for a long time, and his pupils looked up to him as a mentor because of his wealth of knowledge and friendly demeanor.

Also, in the 1970s, he contributed to PTV by writing and starring in several plays. His plays Akkar Bakkar, Sach Gupp, and Taal Matol have all become popular.

In addition to his novels, Shoaib Hashmi was a popular columnist for a local newspaper with his Taal Matol column. The government awarded him several medals for his efforts.

Salima Hashmi, his wife, is Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s daughter. They are Adeel and Mira Hashmi, and they have two children together.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has expressed sorrow over a recent death.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also mourned Hashmi’s death.

According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office, Shehbaz Sharif has sent his condolences to Muneeza Hashmi, Salima Hashmi, and the rest of the Hashmi family. Hashmi, he recalled, was instrumental during PTV’s heyday, when he pioneered new forms of humor and authored groundbreaking plays.

Shehbaz Sharif said that he and other writers and scholars had helped spread knowledge and culture by shedding light on outstanding individuals, traditions, and theories. He prayed for his family’s endurance and Hashmi’s promotion in the next life.

Marriyum Aurangzeb, minister of information and broadcasting for the federal government, shared the sentiments of those around him in mourning the loss of Hashmi and paid tribute to his work as a poet, dramatist, and scholar in the entertainment business. She, too, prayed for the deceased person.

Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker prime minister, also sent his condolences on Hashmi’s passing.
