King Salman, bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, has invited Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, to conduct Umrah in the country.
The PML-N Quaid is regarded as having ties to the royal household.
According to sources, the three-time former prime minister, who has been living in self-imposed exile in London since November 2019 due to health reasons, will board a chartered plane on April 11 to fly to Saudi Arabia with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and other family members. Nawaz Sharif will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a state guest.
He will stay in Medina and Makkah for the final ten days of the holy month of Ramadan. Sharif’s visit to the Kingdom has not yet received a formal schedule. It is important to note that some ministers and lawmakers will conduct Umrah during this time.
According to media reports, the news of Sharif’s upcoming trip to Saudi Arabia sparked rumors that he would take advantage of the occasion to visit Pakistan once more. Nevertheless, Sharif’s aspirations to return have not received an official endorsement from either his party or himself.
Since 2019, Mr. Sharif has resided in London for medical treatment.
